Summer Course 2020

Indonesia is well-known for its diversity in races, geographies, and languages. Community participation is one of our key successes in public health program delivery. In order to share and spread Indonesia’s success in community participation, the Faculty of Public Health Universitas Diponegoro in Semarang conducted The 2nd Summer Course Program “Community Participation in Public Health” for undergraduates, graduates, and practitioners from various countries. The Summer Course program was conducted in October 2020 using an online platform due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

There were several modules presented to the students during the Summer Course program, such as basic health care for mothers and toddlers in Indonesia, domestic waste management in households, community participation in the eradication of mosquito breeding sites, controlling neglected tropical diseases in Indonesia, etc. Various lecturers and experts participated as speakers in The Summer Course Program. Not only lecturers from Universitas Diponegoro, but also lecturers from University Selangor Malaysia, National Taiwan University, COVID-19 Task Force Team in Central Java, practitioners from primary health care, and practitioners from waste bank in Semarang.

The 2nd Summer Course Program was conducted successfully followed by 15 participants from India, Sudan, Malaysia, Australia, Rwanda, Vietnam, Pakistan, Uganda, and Sri Lanka. Hopefully this program not only able to share experiences and knowledge related to public health, but also broaden the network and ignite collaboration between expertise in public health from various countries.
